Love it or hate it, Wordpress is here to stay. Some people bash it, others say “Go to Squarespace”, and don’t listen to anyone who loves Wix but the truth is: Wordpress has its place, and you need to know if it’s yours too. Want a large site, with tonnes of functionality, and e-commerce? Likely Wordpress isn’t for you. Want to write a lot of content, and have a nice looking, simple site? Then Wordpress probably is. I’d imagine a huge company like Anglo American can do fine with something like Wordpress – they just need a simple site saying what they do, and where they are, if that. Wordpress can be an amazing way for a new business to enter the market online, as you can keep costs down, and easily scale your site as you grow. The best thing you can do in knowing if it’s for you or not is asking a seasoned developer before you begin for advice, based on what you are trying to achieve. They should know what stack suits you, and how best to build your site with that in mind.
